In A Mood For Spring

Marie Claire Maison

In spring when everything changes in nature everybody is craving for changes in their artificial surroundings as well. Here are few suggestions how to let more spring into your home and wardrobe.

The easiest is to start with more glass vases that reflect the sunshine and add more light into the room. Seasonal greens in them are great:

Fresh flowers or bright new textiles are great fast fix for the interior:

Danish Pleated Paper Hearts

Though nobody knows the original purpose of heart-shaped pleated paper basket (Julehjerter in Danish) that came from Denmark and Northern Germany now it is mostly used as Christmas decoration. The oldest known pleated heart was made by famous Danish children writer H. C. Andersen in 1860. Now this ornament is a most popular Christmas ornament in Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway). There are so many creative ways to make it. They can be made out of paper:

Danish pleated heart baskets could be great decoration for Valentine’s Day. Here you can see my take on it.

Christmas Tree On The Wall

Идеи для дома

Christmas decoration as the Christmas tree on the wall was always interesting for me since it is less space consuming and more innovative.  I had it made myself one time or twice. Here are the most interesting and innovative inspirations that I found:

Color detector: Plum and Turquoise

(houzz.com)

I just have read the article by Samantha Schoech about plum shade in the interior and its difference from purple. Then I discovered the combination of plum and turquoise. I think I love it even better than turquoise and purple. Here are some inspiration of mine:

In the interior with more colors the combination of plum and turquoise make it sound well all together:

And here are some inspirations in plum and turquoise from the world of fashion (though not the most popular combination there):

It is not a very Nordic-style combination but I hope to be able to use it in my interiors at least in details.

Beautiful Books

Simple library

(Remodelista via ernashus)

I have always loved books. Those paper ones. I love their beauty inside and outside. I like the time spent with books – it seems always too short. It is never enough books at home. My all times dream is to built a small house in a scenic area with all the space along the walls filed with bookshelves and read or browse through the pictures or photographs. The beauty of books can be in a small cozy reading nook:

Color Detector: Navy Love

(Porter Design Company via Decor Pad)

As long as I remember myself I liked navy color. The other colors and combinations were coming later, some staying some going away. Navy always gives a classic look, modest chic and elegance. Both in fashion and interior navy is never a miss. Sophisticated by itself navy makes a good background for the other colors.

Color Detector: Turquoise and Purple

(marieclairemaison.com)

There is a mysterious beauty in the combination of turquoise and purple. It comes from the Italian Renaissance paintings and brings us the forgotten message from these ancient times when colors and their combinations had meanings.  Turquoise and purple bring feeling of relaxed yet sophisticated style to the contemporary interior and fashion world. Would you dare to use this combination in your home?
